Four Easy Ways to Prepare Your Home for Winter Weather
While falling snow and cold temperatures help some people get into the holiday spirit, it’s important to protect your home from extreme winter weather conditions.
· Maintain your home’s interior at 65 degrees or warmer to prevent pipes in the walls from freezing.
· If you have a fireplace, make sure it’s functioning properly, and close the flue when it’s not in use.
· If you are away, ask a friend or neighbor to check on your house periodically.
· Keep your rain gutters clean so that leaves, snow and other debris do not clog them. Clogged gutters create water build up that can seep into your home.
